when asked to do a cassette release on the Kringloop label by Frans de Waard, i immediately remembered all the recordings from about 35 years ago that i couldn't bring myself to trashing. they were all on cassette, the medium that i used in those days. back then i thought it was all too raw and lacking compositional control. i therefore stopped producing and recording solo music for some years. i simply didn't have the practical or financial means to make the music that i imagined, so i decided to concentrate on visual work. musical activities were constricted to studio sessions with THU20 and live performances with THU20 or Kapotte Muziek. when i was able to buy a sampler this changed dramatically, it helped me to realise music that i couldn't have made before. however, some recordings from this period could have found there way out if i had taken the trouble, and there was a lot of raw material that i hadn't used yet. this tape features these recordings, either in their original state or reworked recently. with the label theme in mind i didn't polish them up too much, on the contrary, i added new recordings that have the same kind of rawness and compositional inaptitude that marks the old ones, but worth getting out there. and of course, much of it is loop based, in some way or another.
so, in the spirit of the cassette days, please feel free to (ab)use these tracks in any way you like.
